Serdang, 22 August – Institute of Tropical Agriculture’s (ITA) Emergency Response Team (ERT) with collaboration with Occupational Safety and Health Office (PPKKP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has successfully held fire drill session at ITA Central Laboratory. This training started by making cloud of smoke in one of laboratory and ERT rung the security alarm system. According to Unit Bantu Mula UPM, ERT ITA had successfully pull off building evacuation operation and rescued victim in two minutes, less five minutes set by PPKKP UPM after emergency alarm activated. Fire engine and ambulance also had been used in this training session to provide real experience to the participants consisting ITA’s staff and students.
Participants had been given briefing by Incident Commander, Mr. Mohd Kamarulzaman Ismail and ERT Advisor, Prof. Dr. Norhani Abdullah after the training session, regarding the importance of this fire drill training to identify and learn how to take safety steps if something real bad thing happen in the future. At last program, Unit Bantu Mula UPM have lauded good participant’s attendant in this training session. Congratulation to ITA's ERT and participant involved!
