ANIMAL PHYSIOLOGY

The research focus in this field include molecular, behavioral, nutritional, neuron, and stress physiology. Investigations are directed to the understanding of organ and organ system functions, morphological adaptation and response to stimulus and the environment with emphasis on the function, metabolism and regulatory control in living organisms, metabolomics, nutrigenomics and lipidomics. Candidates are expected to investigate the metabolic and biochemical pathways essential to bioenergetics, homeostatic regulation and relevant ligand-receptor interactions in natural products research and communicable and non-communicable diseases using animal models. At cellular level animal physiology researches cover cellular organisation and  function, biomembrane properties, cellular communication, signal transduction to the regulation of cell survival, apoptosis and neoplasia.
