27 May - Laboratory of Food Crops, Institute of Tropical Agriculture (ITA) has been organized Workshop on Map Manager QTX & QGene Software at Agriculture Hall, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This two days workshop has been presented by Dr. Sadegh Ashkani, ITA's post-doctoral who had speciality in Plant Biotechnology, Genetic and Plant Breeding.
The objective of this workshop was to provide training on Map Manager QTX & QGene Software. Map Manager QTX is software for analysis of genetic mapping experiments in experimental plants and animals. It includes functions for mapping Mendelian traits, quantitative trait loci, intercrosses with dominant markers and advanced backcross & intercross. While QGene software is a free, open-source Java program that runs on any computer operating system. It is intended for doing comparative analyses of QTL mapping data sets in computationally efficient ways that are of maximum use to analysts.
20 participants which are breeders, biotechnologist, geneticists, and post-graduate students has been attended in this workshop. Also presented is Head of Laboratory of Food Crops, Prof. Dr. Mohd Rafii Yusop that also officiated the workshop.
