7 February 2023, a total of 4 members from the Institutional Committee on Animal Care and Use (IACUC), UPM visited and inspected the facilities at the Animal Research Centre, ITAFoS. The purpose of the inspection was:

1. to ensure the Animal Research Centre, ITAFoS regulation compliance with the safety and welfare of research animals
2. to ensure the competence and safety of staff at the farm in performing daily tasks
3. to identify necessary improvements/upgrades to ensure smooth research, animal and staff welfare is guaranteed

 Inspections were carried out in two methods, namely through interviews with staff and direct inspections of the animals' house. Staff were interviewed regarding the management and implementation process as well as any suggestions regarding necessary upgrades were taken into account. The inspection with staff at both the poultry and ruminant units also discussed ongoing research and aspects of farm animal welfare.

Overall, the visit received positive feedback from both sides and the farm houses were well-taken care.
