Handling Medicines and Vaccines for Poultry Livestock and Examination of Poultry Anatomy and Physiology

ITAFoS organized a poultry livestock health course on Handling Medicines and Vaccines for Poultry Livestock and Examination of Poultry Anatomy and Physiology at Park Inn Radisson, Putrajaya from 12th-14th of July 2022. This two-and-a-half-day course was attended by the Vocational College (KV) instructors in the field of poultry. The course was jointly organized by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Empirenet Ventures Sdn. Bhd.

The knowledge sharing and practical training by UPM experts provide early exposure to KV staff about disease management and control in poultry. Apart from that, the teachers are able to integrate their practical experience into the college curriculum which would make the learning processes more effective for students.

The effects of disease outbreaks such as 'Newcastle Disease', 'Infectious Bursa Disease', 'Salmonellosis' have become significant constraints in the poultry industry in Malaysia. The infection of the disease will directly affect the production and the quality of poultry. Therefore, knowledge about biosecurity in chicken farms is very important in ensuring that chicken farm operations are carried out as well as to mitigate the risk of infection.

This course helped the teachers to increase awareness of the poultry industry in Malaysia. Hence, they would be able to transfer the knowledge gained from this course to students with opportunities to learn about poultry production and further expand their knowledge of agriculture.
