On 1-3 June 2022, the Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS) was invited to collaborate with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM), University Community Transformation Center (UCTC), and Sabah Veterinary Services Department (DVS) in conjunction with the Knowledge Transfer Program Vetpil Special Edition (FPV): UPM's 50th Golden Jubilee Celebration, held in Wisma Pertanian Sabah, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

The objective of this programme is to focus on big and small ruminant livestock while sharing the expertise of FPV and ITAFoS researchers in terms of economics, reproduction, and diseases in order to boost livestock productivity in Sabah. Participants were briefed by a panel of experts, followed by a Q&A session to assist farmers in Sabah with their challenges.

The talk session included a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasliza Abu Hassim, Deputy Director of ITAFoS as well as an exhibition on the production of ruminant animal feed, specifically silage by staff from the Laboratory of Sustainable Animal Production and Biodiversity, Mr. Eddy Shahriza Jamein and Mr. Farhan Makhlis.

Breeders, ruminant feed operators, government officals, academicinas, students in Sabah, particularly in the field of veterinary medicine, have visited and participated in the programme. It is intended that this programme would help the breeder community in efficiently managing their livestock. As a result, the country’s livestock industry will be more productive.
