SERDANG (7 – 10 March 2023) – A 'SKILL ENHANCEMENT COURSE FOR VOCATIONAL COLLEGE TEACHERS IN QUALITY FOOD PLANT MANAGEMENT FOR RUMINANT LIVESTOCK' was held, which involved a total of 15 teaching staff from five Vocational Colleges in Malaysia that are KV (Agriculture) Chenor, Pahang; KV (Agriculture) Teluk Intan, Perak; KV Dato' Lela Maharaja Rembau, Negeri Sembilan; KV Pasir Putih, Kelantan, and KV Lahad Datu, Sabah.

The facilitators for this program are ruminant livestock specialists. The three-and-a-half-day event included presentations by specialists from the Laboratory of Sustainable Animal Production and Biodiversity, ITAFoS, and the Department of Animal Science, College of Agriculture. This program comprised two practical sessions conducted at the Animal Research Center, ITAFoS, and the Ruminant Unit, Putra Agricultural Center.

The participants learned how to establish and care for crops for livestock feed and process and produce silage using oil palm fronds. "This is a fascinating program that gives greater information about the management and production of the best ruminant feed," said one of the participants.

The ITAFoS would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to everybody who came. Hopefully, information and knowledge exchange given would improve the teaching and learning processes at individual Vocational Colleges. Also, thank you to the ITAFoS, College of Agriculture, and Putra Agricultural Centre speakers for contributing their time and effort to this program.
