Public Lecture 2/2017: ‘Integrated and Ultrasensitive Biosensor for Food and Environmental Applications'

August 7, 2017, Serdang - Public Lecture 2/2017 entitled ‘Integrated and Ultrasensitive Biosensor for Food and Environmental Applications’ has been held on 7th August 2017 at Lecture Hall 1, Faculty of Agriculture, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Laboratory of Food Safety and Food Integrity (FOSFI), Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS) has invited Prof. Dr. Mohammed Zourob from Department of Chemistry, Alfaisal University, Riyadh, Saudi-Arabia as a speaker. He has delivered his talk regarding the challenges for today’s biosensing platforms which are working with real samples, poor detection limit, long analysis time, and use of washing steps and liquids which defeat the purpose of field applications. Another challenge is the stability and availability of highly specific recognition receptors to be integrated with the sensing platform to have a functional device. This lecture highlighted recent developments to overcome such challenges for various food and environmental related analytes. He has shared his vast experience in developing various optical, electrochemical, colorimetric sensing platforms and integrates it with various natural and synthetic recognition receptors.
