Welcome to the Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) website.

The Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS) is a Center of Responsibility (PTJ) at UPM that has a vision and focus on multidisciplinary research that has an impact on achieving the food security agenda to ensure the sufficiency and safety of the country's food, in line with the role of ITAFoS in food security and supporting Blueprint implementation will further increase UPM's contribution to national security and build a sustainable food system. ITAFoS received recognition as a Higher Institution Center of Excellence (HICoE) by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) in 2017, focusing on agriculture and food security that has a vision and focus on impactful multidisciplinary research to achieve the food security agenda to ensure sufficiency and national food security.

ITAFoS is very confident that the cooperation and involvement of UPM people, renowned consulting experts, and high-quality, high-impact research recognized at the national level and with an international reputation can be born. This website is also one of the information and reference centers for implementing ITAFoS research activities. The management of ITAFoS always appreciates the commitment and efforts of each researcher in increasing the productivity, quantity, and quality of research results. ITAFoS always strives towards cultivating comprehensive excellence in all aspects as well as service delivery through the commitment stated in the objective of ITAFoS, which is to develop cross-disciplinary research activities in certain areas of focus, namely renowned research that is knowledge-intensive and considers aspects of the high-value chain.

Finally, I would like to take the opportunity to express my most profound appreciation and thanks to all the ITAFoS staff for their determination and solid commitment to supporting UPM's aspirations towards the development of the Food Security Blueprint.

I hope that all UPM citizens will benefit from this website, and we welcome any suggestions, views, and constructive feedback to ensure that the best quality service offerings can be channeled for the university's research excellence.
