Enhancing Protocol and Etiquette Competencies for Official Events Among ITAFoS Staff

Serdang, 12 February 2026 – A Course on Protocol Management in the Management of Official UPM Events Involving Industry/Community was successfully conducted on 12 February at the Training Room, Agricultural and Food Policy Research Laboratory (LKDPM), Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This course was organized by the Committee for Industry and Community Engagement, ITAFoS, and delivered by Ms. Nur Sabrina Marzuki from the Centre for Corporate Strategy and Relations (PSPK), UPM. This program aims to strengthen understanding and enhance the competencies of ITAFoS staff in managing and handling university official events professionally, systematically, and ethically.

The program emphasizes increasing knowledge related to correct protocol procedures and adherence to established guidelines. Key contents include explanations of guidelines, procedures, and PSPK service applications, as well as the sharing and explanation of UPM official protocol and event management practices. Participants were also exposed to aspects such as precedence arrangements, management of prominent invitations, protocols for receiving distinguished guests, and the preparation of orderly and effective event agendas.

This one-day course featured lectures and interactive discussions, providing participants with space to exchange views and share real-world experiences related to challenges in organizing official events. This approach helps boost the confidence and efficiency of ITAFoS staff in ensuring that every organized event runs smoothly and complies with established protocol and ethics.

It is hoped that all the knowledge and insights gained through this course can be fully utilized in every university's official event organization. The implementation of systematic, well-planned protocols will help ensure the smooth execution of programs, thereby strengthening the institution's image and reputation at higher levels.
