Serdang, 15 May 2025 – The Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS) has successfully completed the Internal Audit for its Quality Management System (QMS), held from 14 to 15 May 2025. The audit was led by Mrs. Norazlindawati Hashim from the Halal Products Research Institute, supported by a strong team of ten internal auditors.

The main objective of the internal audit was to ensure that the Institute effectively implements quality management in accordance with the MS ISO 9001:2015 standard, aligned with UPM’s Quality Policy and Objectives. The audit also aimed to identify areas for improvement to drive continuous enhancement and to prepare the Institute for certification body audits (SIRIM).

The audit scope covered various areas including:

• General Management
• Core Services: Postgraduate and Research
• Support Services: Customer Management, Finance, Training, Equipment, Infrastructure and Vehicles, Human Resource Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Equipment Calibration and Verification, Laboratory Management, and Industry and Community Networking

A closing workshop is planned to discuss corrective action plans to address the audit findings effectively.
