The Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS) in collaboration with Empirenet Ventures Training & Consultancy has organized a Poultry Farming Management and Feed Formulation Course on 2 - 4 October 2024. This course was attended by teaching staff from three Technical Secondary Schools (SMT) namely SMT Alor Setar, Kedah, SMT Melaka and SMT Johor Bahru. This program was held theoretically and practically by ITAFoS animal husbandry expert, Associate Prof. Dr. Eric Lim Teik Chung, who is also Head of Department in the Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Suriya Kumari Ramiah, ITAFoS Research Officer and Mr. Eddy Shahriza Jamein, as ITAFoS Agriculture Officer.

The participants were exposed to good farm management and biosecurity. Good food formulation methods are also revealed so that proper and nutritious food can be prepared for poultry. Participants can also perform hands-on mixing of chicken feed and take the results home to their respective schools.

Hopefully this sharing of knowledge will benefit the teaching staff of the SMT and can be shared with the students in their schools.
