SERDANG, 15 August- The real time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) workshop was held on 13th - 14th August 2024 at the Central Laboratory of Institute of Tropical Agriculture and Food Security (ITAFoS). The real-time PCR workshop that lasted for 2 days was given a series of talks by Miss Yashini Subramaniam who is a Master's student in Animal Science from ITAFoS. A total of 10 participants attended this workshop including post-graduate students and ITAFoS staff. This workshop aimed to expose participants in analyzing gene expression studies using real-time PCR instruments. Through this workshop, participants were given hands-on training in extracting RNA from animal cells, converting RNA to cDNA, and optimizing qPCR reactions. It is hoped that this workshop able to strengthen the skills and knowledge of the participants in the application of qPCR in research projects.
