Sorghum Crop Management Course With Cooperation Johor Biotechnology Sdn. Bhd.

4 - 5 September 2024 -  Sorghum Crop Management course was held by the Laboratory of Sustainable Animal Production and Biodiversity, ITAFoS UPM. A total of 10 officers from  Johor Biotechnology Sdn Bhd was attended the course which lasted for 2 days. The essence of the course covers aspects of planting, disease management and post-harvest handling of sorghum crops.

 

The theoretical course was delivered by Dr. Nazatul Shima Naharudin titled Introduction to Sorghum Crops and Sorghum Cultivation Techniques. Meanwhile, Dr Syari Jamian delivered a lecture on the potential and management of plant pests followed by Mr Eddy Shahriza, ITAFoS Agriculture Officer, delivered a lecture on Silage Production Management.

                                    

On the second day, the practice of planting sorghum and making silage was carried out at the Animal Research Center (PPH ITAFoS). Through this practice, participants have the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge about the latest technology in the use of sorghum.

 

This implemented program has formed a network and collaboration between the university and Johor Biotechnology Sdn Bhd in helping to increase the agricultural industry in Malaysia. Hopefully the shared knowledge will benefit Johor Biotech Sdn. Bhd.
